reports, commentaries and research papers

Participants are invited to take part in the Symposium as observers, panel members and/or presenters of papersreports and commentaries concerning relevant fiscal or legal issues confronting education in their respective states or nations.

Participants are also welcome to submit research papers for publication in the Journal of Education Finance, distributed in hardcopy by the University of Illinois Press and online by Project MUSE, Johns Hopkins University Press. Papers may also be submitted for online publication in the Journal of Academic Perspectives and The Forum on Public Policy.

All papers submitted for publication will be subjected to evaluation by external readers who are conversant with the particular topic under consideration.  If a participant wishes to submit a paper for publication we ask that the following procedure be observed.

Abstracts for the proposed papers must be submitted and approved prior to the conference deadline. The papers will be evaluated on four criteria.

  • First, the paper must advance knowledge as to theory and or practice.
  • Second, the research supporting the paper must be well documented.
  • Third, the content of the paper must evidence research competence.
  • Fourth, the paper must be well written, clear and stylistically correct.

A presentation at the conference must adhere to the previously approved 300-word abstract. Presenters are allocated approximately twenty (20) minutes to explain the salient points of their status reports, commentaries or research papers. In order to be concise, presenters may utilize PowerPoint. The dissemination of research may be substantially enhanced by the attendance of persons who are not directly engaged in research but may hold professional or governmental positions that provide opportunities for the implementation of research findings. Other researchers who are not presenting papers at the conference may benefit by informing their own future research endeavors and designs.
